Diane is the Head of Environment Policy and professional head of environment for Network Rail. She is responsible for developing policy and strategy to achieve environmental sustainability as well as overarching responsibility for environmental competency.

Since joining Network Rail in 2007, she has developed an environmental sustainability index consisting of nine performance measures including waste, carbon, biodiversity, water and sustainable materials. Several of the measures also apply to Network Rail’s key suppliers.  To improve performance, she has developed a suite of targets supported by a significant capital enhancement programme.

Prior to joining Network Rail Diane worked for National Grid for over 10 years, her final role there was Group Environment Manager.  She has also worked for the British Standards Institution and was an environmental regulator for over six years.

Diane is both a chartered waste manager and a chartered environmentalist.  She is  Bachelor of chemistry and a Master of law.
