Matt Sexton is B&Q’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, a position he moved into 3 years ago after 15 years spent in the world of retail buying with B&Q and other national retailers.
B&Q is committed to becoming a more sustainable business through its One Planet Home programme which focuses on both reducing its own environmental impact and helping its customers to live more sustainable lives at home.
Since the start of the One Planet Home programme, B&Q has reduced its carbon emissions by 29.5%, cut its waste to landfill by around 80%, reduced peat levels in its compost to under 40% and cut paint solvent levels by over 60%. Since 2011, 100% of its timber products have come from proven sustainable sources and the delivery of the UK’s first FSC approved sandpaper this year will mean 100% of our paper products also come form sustainable sources.
Matt also oversees B&Q’s energy saving offer which is being designed to meet demand for installed home energy saving and generating equipment driven by the governments green deal, RHI, eco carbon and FIT programmes.
